Visual Magnetics GlobalShop 2013 Experience

Mendon, Mass., May 17, 2013 – Visual Magnetics® triumphs once again at this year’s GlobalShop show, but with a new blissful twist in the agenda. The most confirming experience in this creative and innovative venue, according to the Visual Magnetics team, was the VM brand recognition we received from retail market leaders.

“At this year’s GlobalShop, we felt embraced by brands utilizing our Graphic System,” said Sandra Deetz, VP of Visual Magnetics. “Companies came to our booth expressing how our products have become an innovative graphic standard for their stores. Not only did they bring their enthusiasm, but also their clientele who spread the word about VM. It was amazing to meet with over 300 prospects and customers from over 250 different companies.”

It is no surprise that Visual Magnetics has amplified their voice to such an extent that the company’s product line now speaks for itself. The power and versatility of the Visual Magnetics Graphic System® was evident in the construction of the company’s booth.

Absent of any nails, bolts or screws in its framework, booth #3011 stood tall, sleek and smooth, dressed only in the Visual Magnetics Graphic System. Setup consisted of activating the walls with their patented ActiveWall® Micro-Iron® latex primer, adding the InvisiLock® custom engineered sheet magnet and rolling out their MagnaMedia® print media for the third and subsequent layers. All fixtures and frames could be easily moved like puzzle pieces without scratching or scuffing application surfaces thanks to the company’s white Surface Protect™ InvisiLock magnet. Throughout the three-day convention, booth #3011 took on its chameleon-like quality and seamlessly changed its look by adding layers or simply swapping out high-quality graphics within seconds.

From the versatile VM-CHALKboard™ with printed and hand-drawn vibrant café lingo to the popular VM-DRYerase™ inspiration corner, the Visual Magnetics booth attracted a wide range of curious onlookers. It intrigued passers by, enticing them to spark their creativity with their own retail designs and spaces.

An extensive line of products brought life and interaction to the booth’s walls. Fabrics breathed texture, fixtures added dimension and woodgrain Digital Veneers™ showcased ease of wood pattern and color interchangeability to the architecture and design market.

In a sea full of brands, innovation and function are imperative for success. The diverse gathering of Visual Magnetics customers who visited the booth, reinforced that we have met our goals in creating a solution for graphic designs that are easy to apply and change, regardless of the application.

Visual Magnetics Wins Product of the Year Award at 2012 SGIA Expo

InvisiLock® Magnet with Surface Protect™ Receives Prestigious Industry Recognition

Mendon, Mass., October 23, 2012 – Visual Magnetics®, developer of the revolutionary Visual Magnetics Graphic System™ that pairs their patented, Micro-Iron® technology with high-quality print media, today announced that it was recently honored with the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) Product of the Year Award for its InvisiLock Magnet with Surface Protect in the Finishing - Display Exhibit Hardware Category at this year's SGIA Expo in Las Vegas. The competition recognized the latest equipment and supplies currently on the market that are advancing the specialty imaging industry.

“We are very proud that this is the fifth year that Visual Magnetics has been honored with an SGIA Product of the Year Award,” said Joe Deetz, CEO of Visual Magnetics. “InvisiLock with Surface Protect will enable our customers and brand owners to create unique and attractive three-dimensional fixtures with our graphic system.”

InvisiLock custom engineered sheet magnet is a flexible 30-40 mils thick roll or sheet magnet which may be applied to virtually any surface, incorporated into frames and fixtures, or simply applied to wall surfaces. With the addition of the white Surface Protect layer, InvisiLock can now be layered on top of graphics or light colored walls without concern about scuffing of the application surface.

Additional components of the Visual Magnetics Graphic System include ActiveWall® Micro-Iron wall primer and MagnaMedia®. Visual Magnetics’ MagnaMedia is so thin that when combined with the properties of both the standard InvisiLock magnet and the winning InvisiLock magnet with Surface Protect, it is possible to create multi-layer graphics to update images instantly for specific promotions, without the use of frames, fasteners or adhesives.

Thirty-eight companies from around the world entered the competition, submitting 80 entries in 21 categories. Evaluated during the 2012 SGIA Expo (Las Vegas, October 18–20), this year’s submissions represented some of the industry’s most innovative digital products.

“The Product of the Year Award Competition highlights the best technologies and consumables from the specialty imaging community,” said Jeff Burton, SGIA’s Digital Printing Analyst. “Entries were so good that judging category winners was a real challenge.”

A recap of the 2012 SGIA Expo — including the complete list of Product of the Year Award winners — is available online at SGIA.org.

Mendon, Mass., August 7, 2012 – Visual Magnetics®, developer of the revolutionary Visual Magnetics Graphic System™ that matches magnetic-receptive technologies with high-quality print media, today announced that the School of Visual Arts in New York City has incorporated a range of Visual Magnetics materials in the construction of an Innovation Lab that will be the heart of its new Design for Social Innovation master’s program, which is geared toward designers looking for meaningful and engaging work through which they can make a significant contribution to society.

In addition to its extensive success in the retail design industry, Visual Magnetics materials are ideal to incorporate in to architectural projects that aim to create an environment with a perfect blend of elegant aesthetics and high functionality, such as design studios, within firms and higher education institutions.

Visual Magnetics’ Dynamic Spaces™ concept utilizes the company’s innovative magnetic-receptive graphics materials to unlock the potential of ordinary walls. A Dynamic Space is a wall-to-wall interactive environment with the versatility to adjust and evolve as needed; walls can be transformed based on practical requirements or aesthetic preferences. A wide range of Visual Magnetics MagnaMedia® can be combined for a custom mix of high functionality and visual excitement. MagnaMedia wide-format printable substrates fall into three major categories: writable surfaces, photo-quality films and digital fabrics.

Dynamic Spaces will provide a truly hands-on experience where ideas can flow naturally and innovation can be born collaboratively. MagnaMedia writable materials such as dry erase or chalkboard wallcoverings create sprawling workspace surfaces not limited to a digital screen. Graphics of any size can be integrated into a Dynamic Space; when printed on MagnaMedia, graphic elements such as murals, way finding signs, event posters and student exhibition signage can be applied with ease.

Visual Magnetics became involved with SVA’s Innovation Lab project during its construction phase, enabling the company to create customized installations tailored to the school’s specific needs. By the start of the program this fall, the space will be fitted with 2,700 sq. ft. of VM-ActiveWall magnetic primer, 1,650 sq. ft. of VM-DRYerase, 475 sq. ft. of VM-CHALKboard, and a seventy-foot photo installation by renowned artist Simo Neri printed on VM-POLYeight, a print film made from recycled post-consumer plastics.

“This program was developed to help new leaders emerge who can make a real impact in the world. It is the first of its kind and will pioneer new approaches. I cannot imagine a better partner to help make this space innovative than Visual Magnetics,” said Cheryl Heller, founding Chair of Design for Social Innovation at SVA. “Visual Magnetics provided exactly what we were looking for - versatile, high-quality media that can be layered and replaced almost effortlessly to create a dynamic workspace that’s as exciting as the program itself.”

“Our idea for creating Dynamic Spaces is all about pushing the limits of what was previously possible in terms of the interactivity and versatility of wall space,” said Tori Deetz, brand manager, Visual Magnetics. “The nature of our technology allows for the rapid development of new, innovative materials based on the actual needs of the designers who use them. Being a part of the Design for Social Innovation Lab gives us the perfect opportunity to challenge SVA students to explore the limitless possibilities of our products.”

Visual Magnetics Announces MagnaMedia® Sample Kits with 2-Sided InvisiLock® Custom Engineered Magnet

Enables Brands to Create Demo Size Wall Graphics

Mendon, Mass., May 14, 2012 – Visual Magnetics® (@VisualMagnetics), developer of the revolutionary Visual Magnetics Graphic System™ that matches magnetic-receptive technologies with high-quality print media, today announced the availability of sample kits that use InvisiLock® 40HE 2-sided magnet, enabling prototypes to be created using ActiveWall® Micro- Iron™ wall primer on wall surfaces.

The Visual Magnetics system components include ActiveWall, MagnaMedia® Micro-Iron coated print media, and InvisiLock® custom engineered sheet magnet, which may be applied to virtually any surface, incorporated into frames and fixtures, or simply applied to wall surfaces. Once InvisiLock is applied, users can easily roll graphics printed on any MagnaMedia to achieve instant, high-quality signage and displays. Visual Magnetics’ MagnaMedia is so thin that when combined with the properties of the InvisiLock magnet, it is possible to create multi-layer graphics to update images instantly for specific promotions, without the use of frames, fasteners or adhesives.

As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to expand product applications beyond frames and fixtures, Visual Magnetics has added new sample combination kits, which include a 10 foot long wrap of 2-sided InvisiLock magnet wrapped around a 20 foot roll of MagnaMedia. Unlike first generation sample kits which are recommended for fixturing and use InvisiLock® 30SE with adhesive, the new 40HE 2-sided magnet does not have adhesive on the reverse side and, therefore, can be used directly on surfaces painted with ActiveWall magnetic receptive primer. “We have received major interest from customers wishing to create prototype wall graphics / murals and wallcoverings using the Visual Magnetics Graphic System,” said Joe Deetz, CEO of Visual Magnetics. “These new kits will provide our valued Direct Sales Channels an economical means to demonstrate wall graphic applications using the proper materials that will lead to success.”

In addition to the updated sample kits, Visual Magnetics has refreshed its Graphic System price list to include many new items and has made some of its most popular MagnaMedia styles available in 150ft and 300ft production rolls (see related release) designed specifically for today’s most popular production style inkjet printing devices. “Many customers are interested in seeing exactly how MagnaMedia will work on a number of diverse surfaces -- not just in a fixture -- and the new sample kits will allow us to better demonstrate its versatility and ease-of-use,” said Agustin Diaz Plaza, sales director, DICAVESA. “The new sample kits also enable us to showcase a wider range of possibilities that the Visual Magnetics Graphic System can bring to the in-store experience.”

Visual Magnetics Delivers Huge Cost Savings, Greater Promotional Flexibility For Oakley

Leading Performance Apparel Retailer Transforms In-Store Signage with Revolutionary Magnetic-Receptive Graphic System

Mendon, Mass., September 27, 2010 – Visual Magnetics, developer of the Visual Magnetics Graphic System, today announced that Oakley, Inc. has used its system to reinvent the way it creates and installs in-store signage. The new method of display enabled by the Visual Magnetics Graphic System has allowed Oakley to cut shipping costs associated with in-store signage by more than 50 percent, and achieve greater flexibility in changing out promotional graphics.

Visual Magnetics’ system is a unique large-scale graphics solution that matches magnetic-receptive technologies with high-quality print media to enable the creation of in-store graphics that can be updated effortlessly. Unlike traditional printable magnets, which are difficult to print on and cut, and require a steel base for installation, the Visual Magnetics Graphic System offers a patented, non-metal based media option that is flexible and smooth, easily printable, and can be applied on virtually any surface.

Come see Visual Magnetics at booth 3927 during the SGIA Expo taking place in Las Vegas, NV from October 13-15, 2010.

The Visual Magnetics system components include MagnaMedia magnetic-receptive papers and films, and InvisiLock magnet technology, which may be applied to virtually any surface, incorporated into frames and fixtures, or simply mounted directly to a wall. Once InvisiLock is applied, users can easily roll graphics printed on any MagnaMedia to achieve instant, high-quality signage and graphics. Visual Magnetics’ MagnaMedia is so thin that when combined with the properties of the InvisiLock magnet, it is possible to create layerable graphics to update images instantly for specific promotions, without the use of frames, fasteners or adhesives.

Oakley began using the Visual Magnetics system in 2005, when the retailer selected it to replace its traditionally printed and mounted foam board cash wrap displays. Oakley applied InvisiLock to 4’ by 8’ inset back frames located behind the cash registers in its Oakley and Oakley Vault retail outlets, and from then on, simply changed out the faces with new MagnaMedia–printed signage as the company’s graphic assets were updated. Installation of MagnaMedia is easy – users simply unroll the media onto the surface. According to Oakley concept development manager Philip Gordon, the company began realizing enormous benefits from the system almost immediately.

“Before using Visual Magnetics, every time we had an asset update, we were sending shipments to each store that weighed 60 pounds or more,” said Gordon. “With Visual Magnetics, because we only need to swap out the faces of the display, we can just roll the graphics up and ship them like paper. We started seeing enormous savings on shipping costs right away.”

Gordon continued, “Damages had also been a problem – a percentage of the assets we shipped were invariably damaged in transit, and resources had to be used to try to recoup our losses from those damages. With Visual Magnetics’ system, that is no longer an issue.”

Oakley was so pleased with the performance of the Visual Magnetics Graphic System in the cash wrap applications that the retailer began to integrate the concept into its store build-outs, by having the manufacturers put in magnetic walls. Today, all of Oakley’s 117 retail stores in the U.S. utilize the Visual Magnetics Graphic System for their promotional signage.

“The Visual Magnetics Graphic System is an elegantly simple interface for changing out graphics,” said Gordon. “Image quality is also important to us, and we have found Visual Magnetics’ media has a particularly nice white base that delivers excellent color reproduction. This technology has really exceeded our expectations in every way, and liberated us to be more flexible and free in our promotions.”

“We are delighted with the success that Oakley has had with our graphics system,” said Joe Deetz, founder and CEO of Visual Magnetics. “This technology has the potential to revolutionize the way companies roll out their promotional campaigns, and we are seeing an increasing number of customers around the world who are doing just that.”
